People’s Assembly

AAE organised a community Peoples Assembly in Mbooni Makueni County to share their grievances with the county government. The emphasis of the assembly were occasioned by perennial water shortage in the areas as a result of drought. Through the CBO, the people voiced about the diminishing agricultural activities in the area due to dried up dam as a result of too much silt. The following was suggested through A Letter of Action to HE The Governor and area MCA;

1. De-siltation of the Utuneni Earth dam and a constructing a check dam up stream to filter silt before water entering the dam.
2. Conservation measures at the Utuneni Earth Dam spillway i.e. filling up the gulley with gabions and compacting to prevent further soil erosion and also enhance the stability of the dam.
